Fonts - Page Text
Of all the developments that have taken place in Web Design over the last few years it is the ability to use Fonts which remains in the dark ages.
There are literally 100,000's of fonts in existence but they are only available if a user's PC contains the relevant font file.
To this day, you can only guarantee 10 standard pre-installed fonts (for Mac users) and 11 for (window users).
Pages written using non-standard fonts may not display as intended. Even fonts size can differ between browsers. Of course headings can be reproduced using images of fonts but use of this technique should be limited.
To obtain an idea of how different fonts may appear click on the Font name below and watch the text to the left of this page. The difference in the amount of text viewable is caused by the fonts designed charactor size and letter spacing.
