Hi Lynton, I've thrown some comments here just so you can get a feel for how we might progress this to so your image and message is reflected.

Text Area Widths

could be an image here Text Layout. We can indent each paragraph if you prefer that, it can be a nice look where text is uncluttered? Text width. Sections of text do not want to be wider than 'here'. Preferably, text blocks ought to be 1 to 2 inches narrower? Think eye movement, think newspaper.

The Text Sections

could be an image here These 2 areas command focus while the rounded corner(s) blend with the design. Backgrounds can be flat colour or gradiated. The layout is 'newspaper' style. Text should be limited.

could be an image here Too many 'beefed boxes' can detract the eye from the message you are trying to send. Like all things it depends upon the purpose of your home page.

Fonts used and why

could be an image hereThe header font is Verdana while the body font is Calibri. The body font size is 16px, which = about 14pt's and the line spacing is 1.3 times the body font size. To me it is nicely readable.read more.

could be an image herePersonally I hated the previous fashion for font at 10pt. I'm glad to say that the trend is moving back to a decent sized font of around 14pt. It is easy to read and still looks good. read more.
